Much like when an incredibly bright and friendly star is lost way too soon, her untimely demise caused her to lose the popularity she had been gaining. People mourned the entire extent of her potential, which was untapped. Since then, her fans have been working harder to not forget what she has achieved. Selena's shooting death sparked an emotional response within the Latino community that is similar with Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena is a hugely popular Latino performer in North America, Selena's music has influenced many people across different cultures. Selena was an asexual and flamboyant stage performer that was frequently called the Latina Madonna. Off-stage Selena was an excellent role model since she was active in anti-drug and AIDS campaigns.
