Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 and professionally referred to under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist signing with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In the month of October Ari Lennox debuted her debut EP Pho. The EP was where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012 when she released Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the internet including her independently release single Bound. The song Sweat it featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's reference. In the following year, her music circulated throughout Dreamville. Then, in December of 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna was hired with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she recorded with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In the month of October, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. In 2018, she went on to appear on two of her songs along with label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was later released in September. On the 9th of November the singer released two new singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On November 13 the singer released two new singles entitled No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single as a way to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February of 2019 a music video was released to promote the song. The track has received over three million hits on YouTube within the initial week. As a support act She toured in concert with 6LACK in December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
