Kim Delaney has won Emmy Awards for her performance as the character Detective Diane Russell. Kim Delaney has been renowned as the character Detective Diane Russell on the ABC series NYPD Blue. She also appeared on the drama series All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was the child of an executive from the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. While she had a childhood dream of becoming journalist, it wasn't until her high school years when Delaney started modeling. Following her move away from New York City and gaining an experience working as a commercial model and commercials in New York did she achieve the career as aspiring court reporters. Her first film role was as a teen innocent in All My Children, a soap opera from 1981. Delaney's career has been filled with numerous television films and dramas. Delaney has not lived a successful or happy personal life. There were two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with alcohol addiction. In 2005 she lost the custody of her sole son.
